Description of works
After 30 years of service, steel storage tanks at Queensland Alumina required refurbishment to provide a much needed extension to their working life. Eptec were awarded the contract to refurbish three (3) of the main caustic soda storage tanks, varying in diameter from 48 to 55 metres.
The
refurbishment required the installation of a dual layer HDPE lining system
covering the base and part walls, inclusive of leakage detection system,
steelwork modification and civil works.
The project required delivery in an accelerated time frame to meet production demands and shipping schedules.
