Description of works
Eptec, under very limited access times, were engaged by the client to rehabilitate maintenance holes along the Smithfield Carrier Fairfield Sub-main, which services Fairfield, Yennora and surrounding suburbs.
Maintenance
holes required corrosion resistant epoxy lining due to extensive
degradation. The surface was prepared and the epoxy trowel applied. Often
working on more than one maintenance hole concurrently, step irons were
replaced with FRP (corrosion resistant) step irons.
Eptec liased with affected residents and the general public as maintenance holes were located in various private properties and public spaces. All work was undertaken under live sewer conditions meaning efficient ventilation, control of the potentially dangerous gases to create a safe work environment.
