Project Details

Due to constant aircraft movement and with the FA18 auxiliary power units facing downwards, there was extensive damage to the existing concrete blast pad at the RAAF Base Williamtown. Eptec was contracted to undertake the blast pad remediation and associated works on the flight line apron.

The project consisted of the following aspects;

  • Removal and concrete remediation of 36 spalled APU blast pads used by the FA18 aircraft;
  • Installation of aircraft tie down points for Hawk aircraft;
  • Installation of joints in the pre-stressed concrete pavement;
  • Line marking.
  • Special features of the project were Eptec's development of special tie-down keys and the management of foreign objects within the work vicinity, which would otherwise pose a serious hazard to aircraft.

    As the work was undertaken on access restricted Department of Defence site, stringent controls were adopted by Eptec throughout all phases of the project.
