The surrounding soil and gravel was highly permeable and had a water head of over 5m. Considering the depths and surrounding earth conditions, excavation was not a feasible option. Chemical Injection to suitable depths was undertaken to stabilise the soil. Subsequently the pipe was repaired by robotics from the inside, without ingress of water or soil, meanwhile preventing the possibility of collapse. EPTEC;s simple innovative solution to the project proved to be cost and time effective. |
